Ten Things You Never Knew About Lady Gaga

1. Stefani the Soprano

When Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (Lady Gaga) was 15 she appeared in an episode of The Sopranos as a rebellious teenager.

2. The Piano

She learned to play the piano by ear aged four.  She wrote her first piano ballad by age 13.

3. Keep Left

Lady Gaga’s dad did not approve of the growing number of tattoos his daughter had collected over the years and asked that she kept the right side ‘normal’ and untouched. Out of respect for his wishes she keeps the tatts to the left only.

Her famous peace sign inked on the inside of her wrist was in tribute to John Lennon and his work towards world peace. John Lennon is also one of her favourite recording artists.

 4. Lady Pussycat

Lady Gaga wrote the song ‘Elevator’ for the Pussycat Dolls. She has also written hits for Britney Spears, New Kids on the Block, Chris Brown, Keri Hilson and Fergie.

5. Tea for Two

Lady Gaga is well known for her love of a cup of tea. She often keeps a fake diamond in the teacup to help steady her nerves.

She further explained:

“I used to have tea with my mother everyday. (Speaking about the teacup) She hasn’t got a name but she is quite famous now, so I made her stay in today. I take her everywhere because she makes me feel at home. I also have a habit of drinking out of china because it makes me feel grounded. I don’t think it’s a good lifestyle choice to always be drinking out of paper, it’s very wasteful.”

6. Wanna Take a Ride On Your Disco Stick

Lady Gaga created the disco stick with her ex. boyfriend and then creative director Matthew ‘Dada’ Williams. The stick made it’s first appearance in March 2008 when she first started performing on the New York club scene.

7. Favourite Songs

Lady Gaga’s top three favourite songs are Bad Romance, You And Iand Poker Face Speaking of Poker Face she said:

“Well, I suppose I would have to say ‘Poker Face.’   But see, I have very different feelings about different songs at different times. I could also say that ‘Fooled Me Again’ is one of the best songs I’ve written, and that was never on any of my albums. I could say that ‘Marry the Night’ is my third or ‘Americano’. I go through these artistic rebirths were I envision my songs in completely different ways. But I guess my third best song is ‘Poker Face’.

8. Hitchcock Horror.

In an interview Gaga has explained how she drew influences from the films of director Alfred Hitchcock in the verse of Bad Romance.

“I want your psycho, your vertigo shtick, want you in my rear window, baby, you’re sick.”

She commented “What I’m really trying to say is I want the deepest, darkest, sickest parts of you that you are afraid to share with anyone because I love you that much.”

9. One Vision.

Lady Gaga became the first artist in the history of the Billboard’s Pop Songs to send their first six singles to number one. She also became the first person to reach a staggering one billion combined video views on YouTube.

10. The Reader

Lady Gaga’s favourite book is Rainier Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet which she is said to read everyday.
